Govt halts decision to present ordinances for approval

The six ordinances introduced by the government in the Federal Parliament will not be presented for decision today.

The government withdrew its plan to submit them, citing ongoing discussions with the Janata Samajwadi Party Nepal (JSP Nepal) and pending arithmetic in the National Assembly (NA).

A ruling party leader confirmed that the agenda for presenting the ordinances in both the House of Representatives and the National Assembly has been revised.

Prachanda criticizes govt over Pathibhara, Ashika, and social media bill

Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda,’ leader of the main opposition party and Maoist Center Chairman, has launched a critique of the government, raising several issues.

In his address as leader of the opposition on Thursday in the House of Representatives, he accused the government led by CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli of being autocratic.

He specifically targeted the government’s approach to the social media bill, calling it a manifestation of authoritarian thinking.

Ordinance will be approved with JSP Nepal’s support: NC

The Nepali Congress (NC) has confirmed that the ordinances presented by the government in the House of Representatives (HoR) will be approved.

The ordinance is set to be presented for decision at the House of Representatives and the National Assembly on Thursday.

Earlier, JSP Nepal Chairman Upendra Yadav met with Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.

Finance Minister Poudel presents mid-year budget review

Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Poudel has presented the mid-year budget review report for the fiscal year 2081/82, reducing the initially allocated budget by 9.01%.

While presenting the report at the House of Representatives, Minister Poudel stated that the estimated expenditure has been revised down from Rs 1 trillion 860 billion and 300 million to Rs 1 trillion 692 billion and 730 million.

The report highlights a mixed performance in budget implementation, with economic activity showing some improvement due to ongoing economic reform programs.

Court orders Rabi Lamichhane’s release on bail of Rs 5.4 million

The Chitwan District Court has ordered the release of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) chair Rabi Lamichhane on a bail amount of Rs 5.4 million in connection with the Sahara Cooperative fund misappropriation case.

The order was issued on Thursday by Judge Dayaram Dhakal’s bench. Lamichhane, who was sent to custody on Wednesday after the completion of arguments, will be released upon submitting the bail amount.

Lamichhane, along with 31 others, was charged on Tuesday for allegedly embezzling Rs 320.9 million from Sahara Cooperative.

Gold price increases by Rs 1,600 per tola today

The price of gold, which rose by Rs 2,200 per tola yesterday (Wednesday), has seen another significant increase today.

The price has gone up by Rs 1,600 per tola today, while silver has also become more expensive.

According to the Nepal Gold and Silver Traders’ Federation, the price of gold has reached Rs 168,500 per tola today. Yesterday, the price was Rs 166,900 per tola.

Gas cylinder explosion in Kathmandu’s Kamalpokhari injures 14 people

A gas cylinder explosion occurred in Kamalpokhari, Kathmandu, this morning at 8:45 AM, injuring 14 people.

Of the injured, 11 have been hospitalized, while three others are in stable condition.

Senior Superintendent of Police Shekhar Khanal, spokesperson for the Kathmandu Valley Police Office, confirmed that the explosion took place at the Sandar Momo shop in the area.
