KATHMANDU: Bikram Rai, Vice Chair of Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC), has been assigned the role of acting Chairperson of the corporation’s Board of Directors. The position became vacant following the completion of outgoing Chair Yubaraj Adhikari’s term.
Rai took the oath of office and secrecy at the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation on Tuesday, administered by Acting Secretary Indu Ghimire. He will serve as the acting Chair until a new appointment is made.
After assuming office, Rai pledged to implement visible reforms within the corporation in line with the expectations of the Prime Minister and the Gen-Z movement.
He instructed the technical division to complete the installation of an A320 engine, recently returned from repair in Israel, within 15 days. Additionally, he ordered the immediate end to the practice of unauthorized business class upgrades, called for timely updates to the baggage policy, and directed the prompt resolution of passenger complaints regarding damaged luggage.
Meanwhile, NAC Corporate Director Anil Ghimire has been appointed as the new spokesperson for the corporation.
