Gusty winds, rain to hit hills and Terai regions



KATHMANDU: The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has forecast rain in several parts of the country today under the influence of a western low-pressure system and local winds.

The weather is currently generally cloudy nationwide, with light rain and snowfall already occurring at one or two places in the hilly and mountainous regions of Koshi Province, Gandaki Province and Karnali Province.

This afternoon, hilly and mountainous areas are expected to remain generally cloudy, while the rest of the country will be partly cloudy. Moderate rain and snowfall accompanied by thunder, lightning, and possible hailstorms are likely in some hilly and mountainous areas.

Light rain with thunder and lightning is also expected at a few places in the Terai regions of Lumbini Province and Sudurpaschim Province, as well as isolated locations elsewhere. Gusty winds are also likely in parts of the Terai of Madhesh Province, Koshi, Bagmati Province and Gandaki.

Tonight, mountainous regions will remain generally cloudy, while hilly areas will be partly cloudy and the Terai will see mostly clear skies.

Light rain and snowfall with thunder and lightning are likely at a few places in the mountainous regions of Koshi, Gandaki and Karnali, and at isolated locations in Bagmati, Lumbini and Sudurpaschim, as well as in some hilly areas of Koshi and Gandaki.

The Department has also warned of possible gale-force winds in parts of the Terai of Madhesh and Koshi provinces.
