Monsoon disaster: Death toll reaches 52



KATHMANDU: The death toll from monsoon-related disasters across Nepal has risen to 52, as relentless rainfall over the past two days has unleashed floods, landslides, lightning strikes, and road accidents in multiple regions.

According to the Armed Police Force Headquarters, an additional seven people remain missing, while 29 others have sustained injuries.

Koshi Province has borne the brunt of the devastation, with Ilam district alone accounting for 37 deaths due to landslides and flooding. Other districts in the province have reported 12 more fatalities, bringing Koshi’s total to 49 deaths.

In Madhes Province, three people died and one was injured in Rautahat after being struck by lightning. Another person is still missing in Bara district.

Bagmati Province reported four injuries and four people missing, while Sudurpaschim Province confirmed eight people injured in weather-related incidents.
