Nepal Airlines to operate charter flight to Kathmandu for stranded passengers

LUMBINI: Nepal Airlines is operating a special charter flight today to bring stranded passengers from Bhairahawa to Kathmandu due to continuous rainfall and blocked roads.

According to Rupandehi Chief District Officer Dr. Tokraj Pandey, a 158-seater Nepal Airlines aircraft is scheduled to depart from Gautam Buddha International Airport in Bhairahawa to Kathmandu at 9 PM.

“Passengers have been stuck in various places, including the Hanuman Temple area in Gallamandi, Bhairahawa, since yesterday. Others are stranded in Belhiya and Butwal as well, with road access cut off and limited availability of air tickets,” said Dr. Pandey.

“In this difficult situation, we coordinated with the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation to operate charter flights through Nepal Airlines. We believe this will offer significant relief to those trying to reach Kathmandu.”

Passengers seeking to board the charter flight can contact airline representative Arun Panthi for assistance. Nepal Airlines has initiated Bhairahawa-Kathmandu charter services to support the general public during emergencies and disasters.
