UML postpones Sunday’s Secretariat meeting

KATHMANDU: Citing the ongoing impact of heavy rains, floods, and landslides across the country, the CPN-UML has postponed its 58th Secretariat meeting, which was originally scheduled for Sunday.

The meeting will now be held next Friday, according to Dr. Bhishma Adhikari, Secretary of the UML Central Office. Dr. Adhikari stated that the decision was made in view of the current disaster situation affecting several regions. The UML Central Committee meeting remains scheduled to take place in Kathmandu from October 13 to 15.

The upcoming Secretariat meeting is expected to discuss the party’s future strategy and outline a new course of action. The previous meeting was held on September 28. Meanwhile, UML General Secretary Shankar Pokharel issued a statement on Saturday urging party leaders and cadres to support government agencies in disaster response efforts.

“We urge everyone to stay alert, as there is a high risk of floods, landslides, and inundation due to ongoing heavy rainfall. All local party committees are specially requested to cooperate with state agencies as needed,” he said.
