RPP and RSP continue boycott of HoR

KATHMANDU: The Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) and the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) continued their boycott of the House of Representatives on Tuesday, reiterating their demand for a parliamentary probe into the alleged visit visa scandal.

RPP lawmakers walked out of the House after Speaker Dev Raj Ghimire allowed party MP Deepak Bahadur Singh to speak. In his remarks, Singh reiterated RPP’s position that the issue must be investigated through a parliamentary committee, as the party has been demanding since May 27.

“We are boycotting the House proceedings and also giving up the allowances we are entitled to during the boycott,” Singh told lawmakers.

Following Singh’s statement, lawmakers from the Rastriya Swatantra Party also exited the House.

Earlier in the session, RSP lawmaker Biraj Bhakta Shrestha had also addressed the chamber, stating that his party’s protest would continue until there is just and satisfactory action regarding the allegations.

“We will not back down from this issue. Our movement will continue until there is meaningful action and accountability,” Shrestha said.

Both parties have demanded a parliamentary committee to probe the alleged abuse of visit visas, a controversy that has sparked political debate in recent weeks. Despite ongoing pressure, the government has yet to meet the demand.
