KATHMANDU: In a notable gesture of international cooperation, South Korea is set to gift two plastic recycling machines worth Rs 6 million to Kageshwori Manohara Municipality.
The machines, each valued at Rs 3 million, are specifically designed to manage plastic waste, particularly bottles used for water and juice.
The commitment was made by Professor Yosep Kang, International President of the Korea Fashion Design Vocational Training Center and Korea Employment Support Center, and Professor Seongsuk Cho of the Foreign Cooperation Agency at Seoul’s Jangsin University.
Speaking at a recent event, the professors emphasized the importance of plastic recycling in reducing pollution, conserving resources, and promoting sustainability. They noted that repurposing plastic waste not only helps save money but also educates children about the value of environmental protection.
In a further show of support, Professors Kang and Cho also expressed willingness to offer scholarships to Nepali students at Jangsin University, provided they are recommended by the Kageshwori Manohara Municipality.
