One killed, 14 injured in Dhankuta bus accident



BHOJPUR: A passenger bus (registration number 1 Kha 2177) traveling from Dharan to Dhankuta met with an accident in Gothgaun, Dhankuta Municipality-6, on the Koshi Highway, leaving one person dead and 14 others injured, according to the District Police Office, Dhankuta.

The accident occurred at around 10:15 a.m. when the bus, en route to Bhojpur, veered off the road. All the injured were rescued and taken to the District Hospital in Dhankuta for treatment.

Among the injured, 73-year-old Krishna Kumari Rai, a resident of Dhankuta Municipality-6, died during treatment.

The other injured passengers include Suryamani Tamang and Anmol Tamang of Shadananda Municipality-13 in Bhojpur; Krishna Raut of Barahachhetra Municipality-2 in Sunsari; bus driver Rudra Tamang of Dharan Sub-Metropolitan City-13 in Sunsari; and Ganga Prasad Sapkota of Chyanggre Rural Municipality-3 in Bhojpur.

Others injured in the accident are Sabina Baraili and Devi Tabik of Bhojpur Municipality-11; Hans Bahadur Rai and Dirghamaya Rai of Sangurigadhi Rural Municipality-6 in Dhankuta; Kapurnamaya Tamang of Shadananda Municipality-11 in Bhojpur; Lila Bahadur Shrestha of Bhojpur Municipality-11; Ayush Rai of Itahari; and Dhankumar BK of Dhankuta-6. Three of the injured are reported to be in critical condition.
