Long-distance transport to and from Kathmandu suspended for three days

KATHMANDU: The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) has decided to suspend long-distance transport services, including vehicles entering and leaving Kathmandu, for three days.

According to a statement issued by the Authority, the decision was taken in view of the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology’s forecast of heavy rainfall until Monday, which could trigger floods, landslides, and inundation.

“All long-distance vehicles operating from Koshi, Madhes, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces, as well as those entering and leaving the Kathmandu Valley, will remain suspended from October 4 to 6, 2025,” the Authority stated.

It has also instructed transport entrepreneurs not to operate vehicles during this period except for urgent needs.

Furthermore, Chief District Officers and security agencies of the concerned districts have been directed to enforce the suspension, monitor compliance, and ensure strict oversight.
