Over 51,000 foreign tourists visit Mustang in first four months of 2025

MUSTANG: The number of foreign tourists visiting Mustang district has seen a significant rise in recent months.

According to the Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP) Office in Jomsom, a total of 51,896 foreign tourists visited the district by the end of April 2025.

Rajesh Gupta, Chief of the ACAP Office, said that the figure includes 8,745 visitors from SAARC member countries and 43,151 from other parts of the world.

This marks a 36.6 percent increase compared to the same period in 2024, when 37,974 foreign tourists visited Mustang between January and April.

Hotelier Suraj Gurung attributed the growing influx of visitors to Mustang’s rich blend of natural beauty, historical significance, religious importance, and unique cultural and social heritage.

Many Indian tourists, in particular, travel to Mustang to offer prayers at the sacred Muktinath Temple, a revered pilgrimage site for both Hindus and Buddhists.
