Speaker Ghimire leads Nepali delegation to Uzbekistan



KATHMANDU: Speaker of the House of Representatives, Devraj Ghimire, departed for Uzbekistan today, leading a Nepali delegation to participate in the 150th annual assembly of the Inter-Legislative Assembly and the fourth summit of the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network.

The delegation includes MPs Shyam Kumar Ghimire, Anjan Shakya, Suryaman Dong Tamang, Sobita Gautam, along with key officials such as the General Secretary of the Federal Parliament, Padma Prasad Pandey, and the Secretary of the House of Representatives, Harkaraj Rai.

The annual assembly and the summit will take place in Tashkent, Uzbekistan’s capital, from April 5 to 9. During the event, Speaker Ghimire is scheduled to address the assembly on ‘Parliamentary Steps for Social Development and Justice.’

Additionally, MPs Shyam Kumar Ghimire and Suryaman Dong Tamang will participate in the standing committee meeting.

MP Anjan Shakya is set to attend the Women Parliamentarians’ Forum, while MP Sobita Gautam will participate in the Youth Parliamentarians’ Forum. MP Shakya will also present his candidacy for a position on the Standing Committee on Sustainable Development, representing the Asia-Pacific region.

At the fourth summit of the Parliamentary Network on April 6, Speaker Ghimire will deliver a speech on ’70 Years of Commemoration of the Bandung Spirit: The Role of Parliament in Upholding the Bandung Principles.’

During the summit, there will be several side meetings between Speaker Ghimire and speakers from other countries to discuss various parliamentary matters, according to the Federal Parliament Secretariat.
