Rastriya Prajatantra Party to hold national unity rally on Prithvi Jayanti

KATHMANDU: Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) is set to hold a national unity rally on the occasion of the 303rd Prithvi Jayanti, which will be observed on January 11.

The rally, which will start from the Mahendra Statue at Durbarmarg and conclude at the Prithvi Statue in front of Singha Durbar, aims to honor the nation-builder, Prithvi Narayan Shah.

RPP Chair Rajendra Lingden, former Chair Pashupati Shamsher Rana, Dr Prakash Chandra Lohani, and several other party leaders are expected to participate in the rally, according to party spokesperson and publicity department chief Mohan Kumar Shrestha.

The rally will feature various costumes and tableaux, adding cultural vibrancy to the event.

Upon reaching the Prithvi Statue, the leaders will offer a bouquet of flowers to commemorate Prithvi Narayan Shah’s contribution to the nation.

In addition to the rally, the RPP will also host a tea party on the same day to celebrate the significance of Prithvi Jayanti.

Spokesperson Shrestha mentioned that the RPP has extended invitations to prominent figures including the Prime Minister, members of the Council of Ministers, the Speaker, the Chairman of the National Assembly, and various political leaders.

Additionally, heads of constitutional bodies, foreign diplomatic missions, security agencies, and distinguished individuals from various sectors such as artists, sportspeople, and social figures have also been invited.

“After the general election, the Prachanda-led government, in which the RPP participated, had declared Prithvi Jayanti as a public holiday.

Since 2006, the RPP has been organizing a gathering on this occasion,” Shrestha said.
