Vehicle movement banned in Sindhupalchok during night-time



SINDHUPALCHOK: Authorities have imposed a night-time ban on all types of vehicles in Sindhupalchok district due to the risk of floods and landslides following forecasts of heavy to very heavy rainfall by the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology.

A meeting chaired by Chief District Officer Bandhu Prasad Bastola decided to halt the vehicular movement from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. on the Araniko Highway and all major and subsidiary roads in the district from October 3 to 6. Only essential services such as fire trucks and ambulances will be allowed to operate with caution.

The District Administration Office also stated that highways may be closed at other times if required by the situation. Residents living near riverbanks have been urged to remain safe, while local governments, security forces, business associations, health institutions, and volunteers have been instructed to stay on high alert for disaster management.
