Home Minister calls for effective and people-centered disaster management



KATHMANDU: Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal has instructed relevant authorities to ensure that disaster management efforts are both effective and centered on the needs of the people.

Minister Aryal emphasized the urgency of preparedness in light of forecasts predicting moderate to very heavy rainfall from October 3 to 6 across five provinces: Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini.

He also stressed the importance of maintaining good governance and ensuring the continuity of essential public services during times of crisis at  meeting attended by Home Secretary Rameshwar Dangal, senior officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs, and representatives from the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA).

Chiefs and disaster focal persons from all four security agencies, Chief District Officers from all 77 districts, and members of District Security Committees also participated in the virtual discussion.
