Heavy rainfall expected in Terai region today

KATHMANDU: The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology’s Weather Forecasting Division has reported that monsoon winds are currently affecting the country, with the monsoon low-pressure trough positioned slightly north of its average location.

Currently, the country is mostly cloudy, with light to moderate rainfall in some areas of Koshi and Bagmati provinces.

This afternoon, cloudy conditions will continue nationwide, with moderate rainfall and lightning possible in many areas across all provinces. Heavy rainfall may occur in one or two locations in the Terai regions of Koshi, Lumbini, and Sudurpaschim provinces.

Tonight, cloudy weather will persist, with moderate rain and lightning expected in much of the Terai—including Koshi, Madhes, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces—and some hilly areas.

Heavy rain is also possible at one or two locations in the Terai regions of Koshi, Madhes, Lumbini, and Sudurpaschim provinces.

Given the likelihood of heavy rain in parts of the hilly Bagmati Province, and with the monsoon expected to intensify across the country—including Madhesh Province—in the coming days, the Division has urged the public and relevant authorities to stay updated with the latest weather reports and remain vigilant.
