CPN-UML holding Parliamentary Party meeting today

KATHMANDU: The CPN-UML is holding a meeting of its parliamentary party today afternoon at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar.

According to party sources, the meeting will primarily focus on the government’s recently announced policies and programs, along with other key political issues.

It is worth noting that President Ram Chandra Paudel on Friday presented the government’s policy and priority roadmap for the fiscal year 2025/26.

His address outlined significant reforms in infrastructure development, taxation, energy, digital services, and environmental protection.

President Paudel announced that the government will reassess all ongoing and proposed infrastructure projects. Those deemed unviable or lacking financial feasibility will be cancelled or put on hold.

He also stressed the need to reprioritize past government-announced projects in line with the current parliamentary term.

Additionally, the government is preparing a broad tax reform package aimed at fostering industrial growth, attracting investment, and improving national economic competitiveness.

The President stated that a more taxpayer-friendly system will be developed through better administration and increased use of digital technology.

To further modernize the financial sector, the government plans to establish a digital bank and promote cashless transactions as part of its broader digital transformation agenda.
