Language, culture are our identities: Minister Gurung

GANDAKI: Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Prithvi Subba Gurung, has said languages and cultures are our identities.

Inaugurating a cultural festival organised by the Nepal Magar Association, Gandaki Province on Friday, the Minister said languages and cultures are interconnected to our history and presence, deserving preservation.

Various commissions have been formed to protect and promote ethnic and indigenous rights and culture, he said, adding that they should be adequately utilised to meet the goals.

The government Spokesperson said the incumbent government was trying to deliver as per the people’s expectations.

Preparations are on the progress to get 11 laws endorsed by the upcoming parliament session so as to address policy hurdles in the concerned areas.

Poverty alleviation and increase in capital expenditures are also government’s priority, according to him.

The Minister added that anyone else involved in the cooperative fund misappropriation should be brought under the purview of the law.

Political protection in such case is not acceptable, he added. The Constitution is reviewable in each 10 year, he said, adding that the Constitution amendment will be sought on the basis of wider political consensus and coordination.
