Govt, cooperative sector can boost national economy: Acting PM Singh

KATHMANDU:  Acting Prime Minister and Minister for Urban Development, Prakash Man Singh, has said the government and cooperatives were working in unison to strengthen national economy.

While addressing a programme organized on the occasion of the 68th National Cooperatives Day and the International Cooperative Year, 2025 here Wednesday, Acting PM Singh argued the nation could be prosperous only when cooperative sector becomes systematic and well functional.

He added that the participation of the all walks of life and diversity had made the cooperative sector an important pillar of socialism oriented economy.

On a different note, Singh opined to resolve the problems surfaced in the cooperative sectors to ensure the safety of depositors’ money.

Addressing the same event, Minister for Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation, Balram Adhikari, shared that the Ministry was facilitating to resolve the problems surfaced in the cooperative sectors.

He reinforced that the cooperative was one of the three pillars of the national economy and it should be made well-structured and safe.

Similarly, Secretary at the Ministry Arjun Prasad Pokharel voiced to increase youth participation in cooperative sectors.
Chairman of the National Cooperative Federation Omdevi Malla underlined the need for resolving the current concerns of cooperative sector to make it decent and reliable to all.
