KATHMANDU: Nepal Police has stated that Durga Prasai, who went into hiding after last Friday’s violent royalist protest in Kathmandu’s Tinkune, will be arrested soon.

Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, police spokesperson and DIG Dinesh Kumar Acharya confirmed that an investigation is underway.

“Prasai is currently on the run. We are actively searching for him,” Acharya said. “Due to the large crowd on Friday, it was not possible to arrest him immediately.”

He added that some individuals had incited the crowd to seize Singha Durbar, the Parliament building, and the airport, prompting the police to exercise restraint.

Acharya declined to disclose Prasai’s current whereabouts but assured that efforts to locate him are ongoing.
