Exporters relieved as load shedding in industrial sector ends

KATHMANDU: Exporters have welcomed the end of load shedding in the industrial sector, expressing optimism about improved production and economic stability.

The Federation of Nepal Exporters Association issued a statement praising the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) for ensuring uninterrupted power supply to industries.

The association extended gratitude to NEA Managing Director Hitendra Dev Shakya, the Ministry of Energy, and the government for addressing the power crisis by importing electricity from India.

According to the statement, frequent power cuts had severely impacted manufacturing industries, reducing their production capacity and leading to revenue losses for both businesses and the state.

The association emphasized that export-oriented industries, which rely on indigenous raw materials and labor, were struggling to compete in international markets due to power shortages of up to 12 hours a day.

In recent days, NEA has been importing additional electricity from India to maintain a stable supply for industries.

The association also raised concerns about the delay in government-provided export subsidies. It urged authorities to expedite the release of financial support, stating that the prolonged delay is affecting businesses and Nepal’s overall export potential.
