Hearing on NEA-related writs to continue today

KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court will continue hearing the writ petitions filed by Kul Man Ghising, former Managing Director of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), and Hirendra Dev Shakya, the newly appointed Managing Director, today (Wednesday).

The hearing, overseen by a division bench of Justices Kumar Chudal and Nitya Nanda Pandey, remained incomplete on Tuesday and is set to resume today.

Ghising’s petition challenges the government’s decision to remove him from his position, seeking its annulment. Meanwhile, Shakya has filed a separate petition arguing that Ghising’s appointment, which replaced him after four years, was unjust.

Additionally, Shakya has submitted another writ contending that Ghising’s petition should not proceed until the court finalizes his own petition from four years ago.

The Supreme Court has been conducting hearings on both writ petitions concurrently.
