Price of petrol down, diesel and kerosene up

KATHMANDU: Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) has announced a fresh revision of fuel prices, making petrol slightly cheaper while increasing the cost of diesel and kerosene. The new rates will come into effect from midnight on Friday.

According to a notice issued by the corporation, petrol has been reduced by Rs 1 per liter to Rs 159. In contrast, diesel and kerosene have each increased by Rs 2 per liter, bringing their new price to Rs 150 per liter.

The price of aviation fuel has also been adjusted. Domestic aviation fuel has been increased by Rs 3 to Rs 128 per liter, while international aviation fuel has gone up by USD 21 per kiloliter, reaching USD 1,077 per kiloliter.

NOC said the price adjustment is based on the new purchase rates in the international market. The corporation claims it is still incurring a loss of over Rs 10 per liter on petrol, whereas diesel and kerosene are generating some profit.

The price of LPG cooking gas remains unchanged at Rs 1,800 per cylinder.
