NC concludes: No alternative to alliance with UML for now

KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress has concluded that there is currently no alternative to the party’s alliance with the CPN-UML.

Speaking on behalf of the party following the two-day Central Working Committee meeting, party spokesperson Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat said the Congress saw no viable option other than continuing the existing coalition with UML.

“Several power-sharing arrangements have already been tested. With no single party holding a majority, there aren’t many options left,” Mahat said at a press briefing in Sanepa on Tuesday.

He also noted that in a coalition government, not everything can go as one wishes, but added that there has been no significant internal opposition to the alliance within the party.

Mahat acknowledged the need for ministers representing the Congress in the current government to improve their performance, stating that more effective delivery was expected.
