FNJ election as scheduled: FNJ Acting Chair Chair Adhikari

KATHMANDU: Acting Chair of the Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ), Bala Adhikari, has said the atmosphere is now favourable to hold the FNJ central election on December 13.

Presiding over a festival reception organised here on Wednesday by the FNJ Central Committee on the occasion of the Dashain, Tihar, Nepal Sambat, and Chhath festivals, Adhikari said the FNJ is entirely focused on ensuring the election is held on the given date.

She added that the FNJ, an umbrella organisation of journalists, could not be taken hostage in the name of the membership clean-up campaign.

It may be noted that the national gathering of the FNJ province/district/ associate/ institute chairs held earlier this month in Bode of Madhyapur Thimi, Bhaktapur agreed to hold the FNJ election on December 13 by resolving the membership issues by mid-November.

As she said, the FNJ has now no excuse left to postpone the election date. “We are committed to following the mandate given by the Bhaktapur national meet,” Adhikari said, urging all to help build positive atmosphere for conducting the election.
