Goal of providing clean drinking water will be fulfilled on time: Minister Rai



DHANKUTA: Minister for Water Supply and Sanitation Rajendra Kumar Rai has said that the government’s goal of providing clean water to Nepali citizens by 2030 will be fulfilled on time.

In a program organized by Press Chautari Nepal here today, he informed that the ‘One House, One Stream’ program and clean drinking water program have been intensified across the country to solve the drinking water problem.

Minister Rai informed that the necessary budget has been allocated for watershed protection in the Chure area for water management in the Tarai region.

He added that to provide regular supply Melamchi water for the residents of Kathmandu, relief arrangements have been made for the locals affected by the Melamchi drinking water project.

Minister Rai said that the construction of the drinking water intake that was washed away by the flood is in progress.

He also informed that since drinking water is a fundamental right of citizens, a bill is being sought to make a law necessary to provide free drinking water to all.
