Ireland Wolves secures T20 series victory against Nepal ‘A’



KATHMANDU: Ireland Wolves clinched the T20 series title by defeating Nepal ‘A’ by 40 runs in a thrilling match held at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground on Saturday.

Opting to bowl first after winning the toss, Nepal ‘A’ faced a formidable challenge as the Irish team set a target of 224 runs, losing six wickets in their allotted 20 overs.

Peter Joseph Moor top-scored with 65 runs, while NA Rock contributed 71 runs to the team’s total.

Sagar Dhakal shone with the ball for Nepal, taking three wickets, supported by Kamal Singh Airee and Pawan Saraf, who claimed one wicket each.

In response, Nepal ‘A’ struggled to chase the mammoth target and was eventually bowled out for 184 runs in 17.5 overs.

Dev Khanal led the batting effort with 47 runs, while Binod Bhandari and Lokesh Bam added 26 and 25 runs, respectively.

Ireland Wolves’ bowlers displayed a disciplined performance, with B. White taking three wickets, while T. Mayes and F. Hand claimed two wickets each.

The victory for Ireland Wolves secured the series win, following their triumph in the inaugural match played on Thursday, where they defeated Nepal ‘A’ by 21 runs.

The final match of the T20 series is scheduled to take place on April 1, offering Nepal ‘A’ an opportunity to salvage a win in the series.
