KATHMANDU: After a disappointing loss to Ireland ‘A’ in the inaugural T20 encounter on Friday, Nepal ‘A’ is gearing up for redemption as they prepare to face off in their second match today.
The much-anticipated showdown is set to kick off at 1 pm at Tribhuvan University Cricket Ground, Kirtipur.
Despite a remarkable century by Lokesh Bam in the previous game, Nepal faced defeat on their home turf.
However, the team is determined to turn the tide and secure a victory in the upcoming match.
In the first encounter, Nepal fell short of Ireland ‘A’s target, getting all-out for 201 runs in 19.3 overs.
Lokesh Bam’s stellar performance, scoring 106 runs with 9 fours and 8 sixes, was not enough to clinch the win.
The team’s efforts to bolster their position alongside Lokesh failed to materialize, with other batsmen failing to make significant contributions.
Captain Binod Bhandari managed only 16 runs, while the rest of the lineup struggled to reach double digits.
Kamal Airee, who had been sidelined due to injury for two years, made a remarkable return, taking three wickets for Nepal.
Airee’s impactful performance helped Nepal gain momentum early on.
As the series progresses, Nepal and Ireland ‘A’ are set to clash in three T20 and one-day matches each.
With the pressure mounting following the defeat in the opening match, Nepal is determined to bounce back and secure victory in the remaining fixtures.
Following the T20 series, Nepal and Ireland ‘A’ will transition to a one-day series starting from April 3.
The action-packed series will conclude with the final match scheduled for March 7 at Kirtipur Ground.
Having previously engaged in two T20 series with the national team, Ireland ‘A’ poses a formidable challenge.
However, Nepal remains confident in their ability to deliver stellar performances and emerge victorious once again.
