Blacktopping work begins on Dhulikhel–Khawa road section

KATHMANDU: Blacktopping work has begun on the Dhulikhel–Khawa section of the Araniko Highway, according to the Road Division Office, Bhaktapur. The work started from Dhulikhel Chowk.

Of the 4-kilometer stretch, 2.5 kilometers will be covered in the first phase, while the remaining 1.5 kilometers will be completed in the second phase.

This road, which had been stalled for years, runs through the Takucha area. Previously, on June 3, 2022, Gauri Parvati Construction Services had secured the contract to complete the work in 22 months. However, the project remained incomplete even 11 months past the deadline, leading the Road Division Office, Bhaktapur, to cancel the contract on March 9, 2025.

A new contract was issued last Shrawan to complete the work in 14 months, with Rs 42 crore funding ensured by the Nepal government. Under this contract, C.M. Avon Kali JV has begun paving work to ensure completion before the monsoon season.
