Foreign Minister Rana holds talks with Chinese counterpart Wang Yi



KATHMANDU: Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr. Arzu Rana held a bilateral meeting with Wang Yi, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, this evening in Chengdu.

During the meeting, Dr. Rana and Minister Yi exchanged views on various aspects of Nepal-China relations and discussed preparations for the upcoming official visit of Prime Minister K P Oli.

“The meeting was held in a very warm and cordial environment,” Foreign Minister Dr. Rana said on social media.

During the meeting, Foreign Minister Dr. Rana extended an invitation to Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi to visit Nepal.

Minister Dr. Rana also congratulated the Chinese government and people through Foreign Minister Wang on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of China’s founding and the 70th anniversary of Nepal-China diplomatic relations, which will be celebrated next year.

Dr. Rana noted the significant progress made in Nepal-China relations in recent times, emphasizing that these achievements have further strengthened the relationship between the two nations.

She also thanked the Chinese government for announcing that Nepali citizens visiting China would be exempt from visa fees.

Additionally, Minister Dr. Rana highlighted the reopening of all traditional border crossings between Nepal and China.

She expressed confidence that this development would facilitate smoother and more effective cross-border movement of citizens, goods, and services for both countries.

She further expressed her belief that the recent high-level visits between Nepal and China will continue to bolster the close and friendly relations between the two nations, providing new momentum for future cooperation.

During the discussions, the leaders also talked about various projects and cooperation to be pursued during Prime Minister Oli’s upcoming visit to China.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Oli is scheduled to leave for China on December 2.
