KATHMANDU: Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba announced that the Government of Nepal is making every effort to secure the safe release of a Nepali student in Israel, who is reportedly under the control of the Hamas terror group.

In a meeting held at the Ministry in Singha Durbar today, Dr. Rana reassured the father of the missing student, Mahananda Joshi, and his family that the government is fully engaged in the situation.

The family had previously appealed to Minister Rana to take urgent action for Bipin Joshi’s release.

Dr. Rana shared that she has been informed Joshi is under the control of the Hamas group but is currently safe.

She also conveyed that her ministry is diligently working towards Joshi’s release.

Dr. Rana expressed hope for Joshi’s safe return, noting that the Israeli envoy to Nepal is committed to leaving no stone unturned in this effort.

She also mentioned that she has been actively addressing this issue since taking office, urging foreign ambassadors to support the release of Bipin Joshi.

Dr. Rana highlighted her appeal to the Qatari Emir during his recent visit to Nepal and plans to formally request support from the Qatari government.

Bipin Joshi, who has been out of contact since the Hamas attack on Israel last October, remains a central focus of the Ministry’s diplomatic efforts.
