110 ropanis of land to be acquired for substation construction in Humla

KATHMANDU: Efforts are underway to acquire 110 ropanis of land in Humla district to construct a 400/132 KV substation in Sarkeghat Rural Municipality.

The National Transmission Grid Company has sought cooperation from the District Administration Office, Humla, to facilitate the project aimed at connecting hydropower generated in Humla and Mugu districts to the national grid.

Dr Netra Gyawali, Chief Executive Officer of the National Transmission Grid Company, stated that the Sarkeghat substation is a pivotal infrastructure to integrate approximately 2,500 MW of electricity from the Humla Karnali and Mugu Karnali hydropower projects into the national transmission system.

The substation is expected to be a significant milestone in advancing hydropower development in the Humla and Mugu regions, fostering overall economic development.

The transmission line, spanning 220 kilometers, is being constructed to connect Dodhara in Kailali district to Humla via Kalikot district. Construction is currently in progress along the route from Dodhara in Kailali to Phukot in Kalikot.

Once completed, the project is anticipated to unlock the potential of hydropower in remote districts, transforming them into key contributors to the national energy supply.
