Finance Minister Pun highlights Nepal’s appeal for international investment at 3rd Investment Summit

KATHMANDU: Finance Minister Barshaman Pun emphasized Nepal’s status as an appealing destination for international investment during the inaugural session of the Third Investment Summit held here today.

He outlined the key objectives of the Summit, aiming to project Nepal as an emerging hub for private sector investment and highlight recent reforms enhancing the investment climate.

The Finance Minister underscored the multitude of investment opportunities available in Nepal and expressed confidence that the Summit would further enhance these prospects.

He noted Nepal’s stable macroeconomic indicators and evolving economic landscape, driven by sectors such as clean energy, tourism, IT, agriculture, and agro-based industries.

Acknowledging the pivotal role of foreign investment in Nepal’s economic transformation, Minister Pun extended a warm welcome to foreign investors, citing their contributions to industrial and infrastructure development, job creation, export promotion, and technology transfer.

He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to collaborating with the private sector through various models of partnership.

Minister Pun highlighted ongoing policy reforms aimed at improving the business environment and boosting investor confidence, including regulatory process improvements, cost reduction, and enhanced transparency in governance.

He emphasized that reform is an ongoing process and expressed confidence that the Summit would serve as a milestone in unleashing Nepal’s investment potential.

In closing, Minister Pun urged participants to seize the opportunity to forge new partnerships, drive innovation, and contribute to sustainable economic growth, envisioning a brighter future for Nepal.
