HoR elections: Sample ballot papers reach all districts



KATHMANDU: The Election Commission (EC) has said that sample ballot papers for voter education ahead of the House of Representatives (HoR) elections scheduled for March 5 have been dispatched to all districts.

According to EC Joint Secretary and Spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai, a total of 1,098,200 sample ballot papers have been printed and distributed nationwide to support voter education programs.

Bhattarai said the printing of ballot papers for the first-past-the-post (FPTP) system has already been completed for Humla, Kalikot, Jumla, Mugu and Dolpa districts. Printing for the remaining districts is underway in phases.

The EC has planned to dispatch FPTP ballot papers to all 165 constituencies between February 8 and February 17, he added.

Meanwhile, the commission has completed the printing of more than 20 million ballot papers to be used under the proportional representation system.

The EC said preparations are progressing as scheduled to ensure the smooth conduct of the upcoming parliamentary elections.
