Koshi Province tops list for violent crimes in Nepal

On average, 166 cases are registered daily across Nepal, as per police statistics.



KATHMANDU: Among the seven provinces, Koshi Province has reported the highest number of violent crimes, as revealed by the annual progress report released by the Nepal Police.

During an event on Thursday, Nepal Police disclosed that a total of 59,061 cases were filed in the past year, with 5,150 related to violent crimes such as murder, rape, murder after rape, human trafficking, and thefts.

Alarmingly, Koshi Province alone accounted for 1,066 of these crimes, followed by 312 in Gandaki Province. Conversely, the lowest number of such crimes were recorded in Karnali Province.

Moreover, the report highlights that cases concerning women and children are most prevalent in Madhesh Province.
