Nepal shows promise with 51 runs in powerplay against Netherlands

KATHMANDU: In pursuit of a challenging target of 185 runs, Nepal has demonstrated resilience by scoring 51 runs while losing one wicket in the initial powerplay of the second innings against the Netherlands.

Having won the toss, Nepal elected to bat first and successfully restricted the Dutch to 184 runs for the loss of four wickets in their innings.

The Netherlands struck early as V Kingma claimed the first wicket, dismissing Kushal Bhurtel for a duck after just four balls.

Despite the setback, Nepal’s batsmen showed determination, with Rohit Poudel and Aasif Sheikh forming a promising partnership.

At the conclusion of the powerplay, Poudel has contributed 19 runs, while Sheikh has amassed 30 runs, laying a solid foundation for Nepal’s innings.

As the match progresses, Nepal’s batting lineup will look to capitalize on this platform and mount a strong challenge against the Netherlands’ formidable bowling attack, aiming to achieve victory in this crucial encounter.
