Khairahani Municipality leads nation in local Fiduciary Risk Assessment

CHITWAN: Khairahani municipality has emerged as the top-performing local government entity in Nepal, securing the highest rank in the local level Fiduciary Risk Assessment (FRA) conducted by the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration (MoFAGA).

Scoring an impressive 99 out of 100 points, Khairahani municipality has surpassed all other municipalities and rural municipalities across the country in this comprehensive assessment.

Mayor Shashi Khaniya attributed Khairahani’s remarkable achievement to its exemplary performance across various thematic areas evaluated in the assessment.

The municipality excelled in planning, budget and program management, implementation capacity, accounting and reporting, monitoring, evaluation, audit, and revenue management.

Khaniya emphasized that Khairahani’s success is attributed to its commitment to transparency, legitimacy, and effective financial governance.

He highlighted the municipality’s track record of consistently securing top positions within the district and credited this year’s national recognition to its focus on minimizing irregularities and adhering to legal frameworks.

He underscored the importance of effective management and adherence to laws, noting that success is achievable through diligent efforts to understand and address the concerns of political parties and the community.

The Fiduciary Risk Assessment serves as a crucial tool in enhancing transparency, legitimacy, and efficiency in the local financial system.

By identifying potential risk areas and strengthening financial management practices, it aims to institutionalize robust financial governance at the local level, ensuring accountability and effective resource utilization.
