KATHMANDU: The Unified Socialist is holding its second National Council meeting starting today.

The two-day meeting, scheduled to run until Monday, will take place at the Nepal Pragya Pratishthan in Kamaladi, with approximately 1000 representatives from across the nation actively participating.

The primary agenda of the Council meeting revolves around in-depth discussions on the statute draft legislation, according to the party’s Spokesperson, Jagannath Khatiwada.

Prior to this, the party conducted a Secretariat and Central Committee meeting, dedicated to the examination of the proposed law.

Additionally, a committee led by party Vice-Chairman Beduram Bhusal was formed to draft the legislation, with input from General Secretary Ghanashyam Bhusal and Deputy General Secretary Prakash Jwala.

During the deliberations, Secretariat members emphasized the need to reduce the size of the Central Committee and advocated for the elimination of age limits within the party’s executive committee.

Furthermore, they proposed a proportional representation system, ensuring a diverse age group within the committee.

The Secretariat members also expressed the view that members of the Central Committee and Commission should be elected representatives from different geographical regions.
