MAKWANPUR: The Thaha Municipality of Makwanpur has banned the sale of plastic flowers in the municipality.

The step has been taken to encourage local flower farmers, as the demand for flowers skyrocket during the upcoming Tihar and Chhat festivals.

Chief administrative officer of the municipality, Krishna Giri, said that the use of plastic flowers has been banned because it affects the environment as well as the soil.

Stating that it is everyone’s responsibility to produce and promote local products and natural flowers, he warned that action would be taken against those who go against the decision of the municipality.
