GANDAKI: Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Prithvisubba Gurung, stated that the current government aims to instill a sense of change among the people within a year.

Speaking at a press meet organized by the Federation of Nepali Journalists, Kaski chapter, in Pokhara this morning, Minister Gurung emphasized that the coalition government, led by the two largest parties in the parliament—Nepali Congress and CPN (UML)—has no room for failure.

He mentioned that the Prime Minister has provided clear directives to achieve these goals.

Minister Gurung explained that the coalition government was formed to accelerate development, good governance, and political stability in the country.

“In parliamentary practice, it is rare for a government of two major parties to be formed, and we have taken this step as a last resort,” he said.

“If this government fails, public trust in the mainstream political parties will be eroded.”

The government will prioritize economic reforms, job creation, good governance, and infrastructure development.

Additionally, Minister Gurung highlighted the need to update laws related to media and communications, noting that some media institutions are operating under outdated regulations.

The Ministry of Communications will take the initiative to formulate and amend necessary laws to modernize the media sector and support the professional development of media personnel.

An action plan will be developed and implemented to achieve these objectives.
