Nationwide Broadband access achieved at local centers

KATHMANDU: The government has extended broadband internet services to the centers of all local levels throughout the country.

Finance Minister Barsha Man Pun announced this during the presentation of the economic survey for the fiscal year 2080/81 at the House of Representatives on Sunday.

Broadband internet is now available at the centers of 5,951 local ward offices. Additionally, 4,272 health centers and 5,341 community secondary schools have been equipped with this service. This expansion has standardized the website formats for all local levels.

Furthermore, 63 entities associated with 263 local levels have launched their websites.

A total of 838 virtual machines are operational for IT systems across 340 government agencies utilizing cloud services.

By the end of Falgun 2080 BS, there were 765 registered daily newspapers, 39 biweekly, and 298 weekly publications. In total, 7,997 newspapers are registered, with 5,376 in Nepali and only two in Rai language.

Additionally, 720 FM radio stations and 107 television channels are in regular operation, according to Minister Pun.
