Police nab two for involvement in hundi transactions



KATHMANDU: The police nabbed two people allegedly involved in the illegal hundi transactions.

The Police detained Yubraj Prasain, 50, residing in Anamnagar, Kathmandu, and Bishwas Rai, 30, originally from Sunsari and presently residing in Bouddha, Kathmandu, for their alleged participation in Hundi transactions on Friday.

Hundi, an illicit method of money transfer, is deemed punishable under the Nepal Rastra Bank Act, 2058.

Acting on a tip-off, the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of the Nepal Police apprehended the duo.

During the operation, the police seized over 3 million in cash, two laptops, and five sets of mobile phones from Rai’s residence.

In a separate incident, the police also arrested Rojin Neupane, 24, from Tarakeshwor Municipality.

Neupane is accused of collecting Rs 1.2 million from seven individuals by enticing them with job offers in Portugal.
