KATHMANDU: Leaders of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), who were on a 10-day visit to China,  returned to Nepal after shortening their visit on Thursday, due to ongoing political developments in Nepal.

Upon their return, the party’s acting spokesperson, Manish Jha, asserted that RSP Chair Ravi Lamichhane was being unfairly targeted to protect others. Jha emphasized that although an investigative committee had clearly mentioned that Lamichhane did not take money from the cooperative by being personally involved, there were efforts to criminalize him unjustly.

“The party will strongly counter any form of political revenge,” Jha warned, adding that a press conference would be held soon to clarify the party’s official stance on the ongoing political developments.

Echoing similar concerns, RSP Deputy Chair Dr. Swarnim Wagle stressed that the actions against Lamichhane were not an attack on an individual but on the institution itself.

Led by party Vice Chair Dr. Swarnim Wagle, a 14-member delegation flew to China last Saturday at midnight for what was intended to be a 10-day official program.
