RSP leaders return home cutting short their China visit

Leaders of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) returned to Nepal after shortening their 10-day visit to China.

The team arrived back in Nepal on Thursday after shortening their 10-day visit to China. Led by party Vice Chairman Dr. Swarnim Wagle, a 14-member delegation flew to China last Saturday at midnight for what was intended to be a 10-day official program.

However, due to ongoing political developments in Nepal, the team decided to cut the visit short.

Adverse weather disrupts air travel at TIA

Adverse weather conditions have impacted air travel in Kathmandu.

Domestic flights from Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) are experiencing disruptions due to poor visibility and inclement weather.

While visual flight rules (VFR) flights are currently operational at TIA, services to destinations such as Biratnagar and Simara have been affected. According to TIA, two flights were diverted as a result of deteriorating weather conditions along their routes.

20 rescued after bus plunges into Koshi River Kathmandu

Twenty passengers were rescued from a bus that plunged into the Kohsi River from the Koshi barrage on Thursday, officials said, though the total number of passengers on board remains unclear.

The passenger bus, en route from Biratnagar to Gaighat, the headquarters of Udaipur district, lost control and broke through the fence of the barrage bridge, plunging into the river.

The incident occurred on the border between Sunsari and Saptari districts.

Car buried in landslide on Prithvi highway; four injured

A car was buried in a dry landslide on Thursday in Galchi Rural Municipality-4, Chiraudi, Dhading, along the Prithvi Highway.

The vehicle, identified by the registration number Ga 2 Cha 7885, was traveling from Gajuri to Kathmandu when the landslide struck.

According to the Gajuri area police office, four individuals inside the car sustained injuries in the incident.

Gold prices hit all-time high

The price of gold, which has been steadily rising for five consecutive days, has once again set a record today, reaching its highest level ever. Since last Sunday, gold prices have consistently increased.

Today, the price of gold rose by 300 rupees, reaching 160,700 rupees per tola, according to the Nepal Gold and Silver Traders Federation. This marks the highest price for gold recorded to date, up from yesterday’s price of 160,400 rupees.

Night bus operation ban in 56 districts due to monsoon warnings

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority has imposed a ban on night buses operating in 56 districts on Friday and Saturday nights.

The central command post for monsoon preparedness and response has decided not to allow night buses to ply on Ashwin 11 and 12 due to the heightened risk of disaster incidents.

Heavy to very heavy monsoon rainfall is expected from Thursday to Sunday, prompting the authority to issue several precautions.

Foreign Minister Rana meets with UN USG Lacroix

Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Arzu Rana met with the United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Peace Operations Jean-Pierre Lacroix.

During the meeting in New York, the Foreign Minister said that Nepal has been contributing to the UN peace mission for a long time and stressed that Nepal should be given an opportunity to service in the high positions of the mission, according to the Permanent Mission of Nepal to the United Nations in New York.

Gap between health services of developed and underdeveloped countries should be addressed: PM

Prime Minister KP Oli has said that the disparity in health services between developed and underdeveloped countries should be ended.

As result of this disparity, it has been challenging for underdeveloped countries to provide equal health services for all.

Addressing a program organized by Mount Sinai Hospital and AMPATH Nepal, Prime Minister Oli, who is in New York attending the 79th UN General Assembly, said that despite the vast improvements in science and technology underdeveloped countries are facing challenges in the field of health infrastructure.

Landslid obstructs Kanti Highway

The Kanti Highway has been blocked for traffic due to landslides triggered by incessant rainfall last night.

The highway remains completely obstructed due to a landslide in Ghattepakha of Bakaiya rural municipality-12 of Makwanpur, according to District Police Office, Makwanpur.

MCC Executive Head Albright meets PM Oli

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), Alice Albright, held a courtesy meeting with Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli in New York.

The meeting took place during the 79th General Assembly of the United Nations in New York, USA.

According to sources, the two sides discussed the progress of the MCA Compact in Nepal.

PM Oli calls for collaborative efforts to combat climate change impacts

Prime Minister KP Oli has called on the global community to develop an integrated climate adaptation action plan that addresses environmental challenges from the mountains to the sea.

Speaking at the high-level plenary meeting on ‘Challenges Caused by Sea Level Rise’ during the 79th United Nations General Assembly, Prime Minister Oli highlighted the urgent consequences of global carbon emissions, noting that the mountains of Nepal are experiencing significant melting.
