Six police personnel honored for rescuing pilot from plane crash



KATHMANDU: Six police personnel who successfully rescued a pilot from the crash site of a plane on July 24 have been honored for their bravery.

According to Nepal Police Spokesperson DIG Dan Bahadur Karki, the Police Headquarters recognized the efforts of these officers for their risk-taking and life-saving actions.

The awarded personnel include DSP Sukdev Khanal, Tanka Raut, and police constables Shree Ram Pariyar, Karan Singh Chaisir, Bhim Prasad Gautam, and Krishna Joshi.

The plane, belonging to Saurya Airlines and bound for Pokhara, crashed at Tribhuvan International Airport shortly after takeoff on the morning of July 24.

Out of the 19 people on board, primarily Saurya Airlines staff and technicians, 18 lost their lives.

The injured pilot, Manish Ratna Shakya, was rescued by the police and taken to the nearest medical facility.
