RSP demands lifting of prohibited zones in Pokhara

KATHMANDU: The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has demanded the removal of the prohibited zones in areas such as Shahid Chowk and Lakeside in Pokhara.

On Tuesday, RSP leaders met with the Chief District Officer of Kaski to request the lifting of restrictions that have been in place for two months.

The party argued that the prohibited zones could inconvenience tourists visiting Pokhara during the Christmas and New Year celebrations, which hold special significance for Christian communities.

The restrictions were imposed on October 19 by the Kaski District Administration Office, following the arrest of RSP President Rabi Lamichhane on October 18 in Kathmandu and his subsequent transfer to Pokhara.

The designated prohibited zone extends from Shahid Chowk to Street 1 of Lakeside.

RSP also pointed out that maintaining the restricted area at Lakeside’s main entry point for over two months has negatively impacted tourist movement and local businesses in the region.

The party urged the administration to address the issue promptly, considering its effect on Pokhara’s tourism and economic activities.
