KANCHANPUR: The use of technology in farming has gradually increased in Belauri and other areas in the district of Kanchanpur.

Farmers have started using tractors, mini-tillers and power tillers instead of oxen and he-buffaloes to plow the fields for traditional farming.

Likewise, the local communities have made their life easier by technology for crop harvesting and grinding too.

Of late, farmers have used reapers, cutters, combined harvesters and other technology more commonly in Belauri Municipality.

One of the farmers getting huge benefits due to the use of technology in traditional farming is Asre Ram Badayak of Belauri Municipality-6.

Similarly, the application of drone technology is being more popular in agriculture — for sowing seeds and controlling insects in farming.

It is said that farmers are attracted towards the mechanization of farming since this is cost and time-effective and efficient.

Badayak, who is doing commercial farming since 2017, has bought agricultural inputs and equipment worth Rs 10 million.

“Last year, I bought a drone at Rs 1 million as drone technology has made farming easier,” he said adding that technology has reduced the cost of farming and resulted in better production.

Badayak said he also took training on commercial farming from different cities in India.
