BARA: A bus carrying Nepali pilgrims met with an accident in Samastipur, India, on Saturday night, resulting in 45 injuries, with three reported to be in critical condition.
The bus (Na 7 Kha 6446) was transporting a total of 47 people, including 25 women and six children; two passengers were unharmed.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police and Spokesperson of the District Police Office Bara, Prakash Sapkota, the critically injured include Dev Narayan Pundit, Subodh Shah Teli, and a nine-year-old girl.
The accident occurred when a truck, as reported by the Indian security force, struck the bus from behind.
The bus was on a pilgrimage to religious shrines in India, including Devghar Babadham in Bihar.
All the passengers are from Murtipaliya of Baragadhi Rural Municipality-3 in Bara, according to DSP Sapkota.
The injured are being treated at Samastipur Sadar Hospital and other private clinics in the area.
The bus, owned by Rajaram Shah of Baragadhi-1, entered India via the Raxaul checkpoint at 11:00 AM on Saturday.
