Rabi Lamichhane’s to give his testimony in Kaski District Court today



KATHMANDU: The statements of the defendants involved in the embezzlement case of the savings at the Suryadarshan Cooperative in Pokhara, Kaski, will continue today.

The District Government Attorney’s Office in Kaski filed charges against the defendants in the District Court, prompting the commencement of statements from yesterday.

The testimonies will be heard in the court of Judge Nitij Rai at the Kaski District Court.

On the first day, the testimony of former Deputy Inspector General (DIG) and the then operator of the Gorkha Media Network, Chhabilal Joshi, was recorded. His testimony will continue today.

Once his testimony concludes, statements from Rastriya Swatantra Party chair and former Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane, along with others, will be heard.

On the first day, Lamichhane, Joshi, Leela Pachhai, Ram Bahadur Khanal, and Krishna Bahadur Gurung were brought to court for testimony.

Court Information Officer Suraj Adhikari stated that all testimonies are expected to be completed by Thursday, with the court preparing to begin the bail hearing on Friday.

After completing all hearings, the court will issue orders regarding the release of individuals like Lamichhane, either on bail or under regular release conditions, or remand them in custody.

Earlier, on Sunday, the Kaski District Attorney’s Office registered a case against Lamichhane, former DIG Chhabilal Joshi, and 44 others, accusing them of embezzlement at the cooperative.

The office has so far filed charges against 63 individuals in the Kaski District Court regarding the Suryadarshan Cooperative fraud case.
