NC lawmaker Angdembe urges govt to address technology sector issues through budget

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress parliamentary party leader Bhishmaraj Angdembe has urged the government to address technology-related issues through the upcoming budget, saying several important concerns were left out of the government’s policy and programme.

Speaking at the inauguration of the convention of the Federation of Nepal Mobile Entrepreneurs in Kathmandu on Saturday, Angdembe said many key issues concerning the technology sector had not been adequately incorporated into the government’s policy priorities.

He stressed that those issues should now be included and addressed through the national budget.

Angdembe also expressed dissatisfaction over the limited time allocated for discussions on the government’s policy and programme in Parliament.

He accused the government of failing to complete necessary parliamentary procedures by shortening discussions that were previously held for three days into only a few hours.

However, he expressed confidence that broader and more meaningful debates would take place during the pre-budget discussions.

The Nepali Congress leader said the opposition would no longer follow the old practice of opposing the government merely for the sake of opposition.

Instead, he said the opposition was prepared to support the government in result-oriented work while continuing to point out weaknesses and mistakes when necessary.

At the same time, Angdembe said recent activities of the government did not indicate sufficient preparation to deliver the expected results.

He added that the opposition remained committed to supporting positive initiatives while constructively warning the government about shortcomings and policy errors.
